Ligue 1: Marquinhos criticises Messi, others as PSG fail to beat Rennes

Paris Saint-Germain captain, Marquinhos, has criticised his entire teammates, including Lionel Messi, following their Ligue 1 defeat to Rennes on Sunday.

Marquinhos said PSG players lacked effectiveness upfront and at the back against Rennes during the encounter.

The Brazilian believes Mauricio Pochettinoโ€™s men were not ruthless against Rennes.

Rennes defeated Mauricio Pochettinoโ€™s side 2-0 at Stade de la Route de Lorient, thanks to goals from Gaetan Laborde and Flavien Tait.

โ€œI think we werenโ€™t efficient enough all over the pitch, at the back and up front. We had chances, but it was a bizarre game, very open. We had a tough start to the game, Rennes were very energetic, they were better,โ€ the 27-year-old said at his post-match press conference.

โ€œWe were great at the end of the first half and we were able to create a lot of chances that we didnโ€™t take. And we conceded two goals that we needed to avoid, in key moments of the game.

โ€œFatigue? I think weโ€™re used to playing a run of games. We canโ€™t think about us being fatigued or whatever. I think that if we were ruthless, the game would have been completely different and we wouldnโ€™t have talked about fatigue.

โ€œOverall, we played well, but we lacked that effectiveness upfront and at the back to take the lead.โ€
